No, it's definitely not me.
Okay, so, maybe it is. But okay. Anyway.
This post will be relevant to the project. It'll be about connections in all three books I've read. Wait. Maybe I should do that one last. Or whenever.
I should probably tell you the other two books I've read. And don't worry, they weren't at last minute. Like most of my stuff is. Ha. Haha.
Okay, now that laughing time is over, I'll talk about my books. This summer, I've read The Giver, Autumn Street, and The Blackhope Enigma. All of them were extremely good books. I picked the right things to read this summer.
My favorite book that I read by far was Autumn Street by Lois Lowry, who is now my second favorite author (next to Roald Dahl, of course). I loved everything about it. The plot, characters, conflict, theme, setting, just everything! Basically, if you haven't read it, it takes place during WWII. Elizabeth, the main character in the story, felt alone. She felt alone by everyone except Tatie, her African American maid/cook. It was sad and touching in so many ways, and I can relate to her, too. Basically every question she asks someone gets answered with "It's because of the war," or something along the lines of that. I felt so sympathetic and warmhearted for her as I read. I was like "What if that was me...all my family going into war, being all alone like that..." It really made me think about things. Well, Elizabeth's dad went into war when she was only four years old, and to make things worse, her mother had said to her that when her brother gets of age, he would have to go into war as well. See, I know war is a good thing for our country, but I don't understand why people get praised for killing other people. I know there have been threats and stuff like that, but it just doesn't make sense to me. How people could just heartlessly kill other people. There's a song I know that's about that kind of thing. It's called "Hero of War" by Rise Against. Some of the lyrics are:
"I kicked in the door, I yelled my commands
The children they cried but I got my man
We took him away, a bag over his face
From his family and his friends
They took off his clothes, they *bad word for peed* in his hands
I told them to stop but then I joined in
We beat him with guns and batons
Not just once but again and again"
If you couldn't understand what he was trying to say there, basically what he was doing was singing it from a soldiers perspective, and saying the type of things that the media leaves out.
What I'm trying to get at is just that. The media leaves out things from the war, and everyone is so proud of our soldiers, even though they do plenty of unreasonable things to people who don't deserve to be treated that way.
Sorry, haha, I'm getting off track, though this is a connection. Anyway, it's a very good book, and I recommend that you read it. If you do like those kind of things. Maybe it will give you a different opinion, who knows?
Oh well, I'll be back to type another blog soon. It's actually 12:05 A.M. or somewhere around that range. The time it says on the blog isn't correct. Yes, this is messing with my sleeping patterns, like I said. I knew it would. I'll be fine, though. I'm listening to Shakira.
BYE FOR NOW, I GUESS~!
Be back soon to talk about The Blackhope Enigma.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~!
